Salisbury's Malamphy Tabbed CLC Player of the Year to Headline Impressive Slate of Award Winners and All-Conference Honorees

Salisbury University senior faceoff specialist Blake Malamphy (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding) has been named the 2026 Coastal Lacrosse Conference Men's Lacrosse Player of the Year, the league announced Monday, April 27.

Salisbury senior attacker Connor Herraiz (Succasunna, N.J./Pope John XXIII) was tabbed the CLC Offensive Player of the Year, while Christopher Newport senior goalkeeper Mason Bellinger (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Christopher Newport freshman attacker Ryan Miller (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) was selected as the Rookie of the Year, and Kean University senior Tyler Scott (Jamesburg, N.J./Monroe Township) captured Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition. Christopher Newport head coach Mikey Thompson and his staff — Zach Thomas, Campbell Pozin, Michael Brost, and Chazz Woodson — were voted the CLC Coaching Staff of the Year.

Their selections highlighted a 39-member CLC men's lacrosse all-conference team. All award winners and all-conference honorees were determined by a vote of the league's head coaches.

Malamphy was as dominant as any faceoff specialist in the country this season and will go down as one of the great faceoff men in program history. The senior went 283-for-372 on the year for a .761 percentage that led the CLC and ranked third in the nation, and put together several blistering single-game performances. He went 22-for-23 against Christopher Newport, 22-for-24 against both Kean and Ohio Northern, and 21-for-25 against Stevenson. He turned that possession dominance into 206 ground balls on the season — 12.12 per game, tops in the conference — and added seven goals and two assists, including a two-goal performance in a win at Scranton.

Herraiz was equally dangerous as a scorer and a creator throughout the season. He finished with 32 goals and 63 assists for 95 total points across 17 regular season games, leading the CLC in assists per game (3.71) — third nationally — and points per game (5.59).  His 95 points ranks him among the top 10 in the country as well. The senior attacker posted a season-high four goals in a win over Ohio Northern and dished out a season-high eight assists in a win at Kean. He also reached a season-best nine points on two separate occasions. He never recorded fewer than two points in any game this season and topped five points in 10 outings.

Bellinger put together one of the finest seasons in program history. The reigning All-American earned USA Lacrosse National Player of the Week honors twice and collected five CLC Defensive Player of the Week nods along the way. His 231 saves lead the conference and rank fourth all-time at CNU, and he made at least 20 saves in three appearances, headlined by his career-high and program-record 26-stop performance against No. 7 Salisbury that clinched the CLC regular season title and the top tournament seed for the Captains. His .614 save percentage is the highest in school history. He also delivered one of the season's signature moments with a coast-to-coast goal to tie the game against Salisbury, and added 50 ground balls, nine caused turnovers, and two points.

Miller was one of the most productive freshmen in the country, recording 33 goals and 34 assists for 67 points across 17 games. His 3.94 points per game ranked fifth in the CLC and his 33 goals placed him third in the conference in scoring — both were the highest by a CLC freshman this season. He tallied at least one goal in all but two games, with 11 multiple-goal outings. He also dished a career-best five assists on two separate occasions. He also recorded a career-best seven points each in wins over Stevenson, Franklin & Marshall, and Roanoke.

Scott will graduate as Kean University's valedictorian with a 3.997 GPA as a Physical Education major, while also earning second-team all-conference recognition at the short-stick midfielder position. He scooped a career-best 37 ground balls this season to go with 11 caused turnovers, while chipping in eight goals and two assists.

Thompson and his staff earned the CLC Coaching Staff of the Year award for the second time in program history, guiding Christopher Newport to a 15-2 record and the program's first CLC regular season title with a perfect 4-0 mark against conference opponents. The Captains spent the entire season ranked in the top five of the USILA coaches poll, posted five wins against top-25 competition, and ranked fourth in the NCAA in caused turnovers per game (14.76). The Captains placed nine players on the all-conference team with representation at every position group.
