Salisbury's Bromwell and DeFazio Earn Major National Awards; 20 Named USILA All-Americans

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Salisbury duo Brice Bromwell and John DeFazio earned major national awards to headline the All-American teams announced by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) on Thursday.

Bromwell was named the Fran Mcall Outstanding Midfielder and DeFazio earned the William C. Stiles Memorial Outstanding Defenseman award. They are also among a whopping 20 Coastal Lacrosse Conference student-athletes named to the All-America teams.

In addition to Bromwell and DeFazio, Christopher Newport’s Kevin Miller was named First Team All-America. Salisbury’s Jeremiah Stafford and CNU’s Warner Cabaniss earned Second Team honors, while Kean’s Dylan Johnson, Salisbury’s Riley Strub, and CNU’s Mason Bellinger earned Third Team accolades. An additional 12 players earned Honorable Mention.

Bromwell, a senior from Woolford, Md., becomes the second Sea Gull midfielder in as many seasons to earn positional laurels after Jack Dowd '24 claimed the honor last season. Brice becomes the second member of the family to be named Division III's most prolific midfielder after his older brother, Jarrett Bromwell '22, received the award in 2021 and the 11th different Sea Gull to be named Midfielder of the Year (with 16 total honorees including repeat recipients).

The third chapter of the Bromwell story at Salisbury closed emphatically with one of the best campaigns in the SU midfield in recent memory. Bromwell totaled 113 points on 51 goals and 62 assists, turning the ball over just 22 times in 21 outings to tout a 2.82 assist-to-turnover ratio. He finished his Sea Gull career ranked eighth in team history in career goals (176) and points (293) while securing ninth in helpers.

DeFazio, a graduate student from Mountain Lakes, N.J., claims the first National Defenseman of the Year nod for Salisbury since Kyle Tucker '18 was acknowledged in consecutive seasons, 2017-18. After becoming the second defenseman in program history to earn National Player of the Year honors last season, DeFazio represents the ninth Sea Gull to earn the defensive positional praise and the 14th total award winner.

DeFazio earned an All-American nod for the fourth consecutive season, finishing with 90 or more ground balls and 30 or more caused turnovers in a fourth consecutive season while tallying a career-high 15 points on five goals and 10 assists. The newest member of the Premier Lacrosse League's Maryland Whipsnakes scooped 100 ground balls and caused 45 turnovers across 21 starts in 2025, finishing fourth all-time in Division III in career caused turnovers (212) since 2010.
